Using the Engineering Design Process to Develop and Implement a High School Introduction to Engineering Course
Abstract
The University of Cincinnati's College of Engineering & Applied Science in collaboration with local high schools developed an Introduction to Engineering course for high school students using the engineering design process to guide the course development and implementation. The steps in the course design process are described in terms of the engineering design model as are selection of specific course elements. The iterative nature of the process is illustrated and the improvements made after an implementation cycle are described. The course effectiveness is also discussed in terms of meeting the identified goal.Copyright © 2012 by Eugene Rutz and University of Cincinnati.
